The next course in EMDR & Art Therapy will be on Friday 19th, Saturday 20th, Monday 22nd July 2024, 4-7.00pm BST, via zoom. Max ten participants, open to bookings from 15th May 2024.
Join us for an immersive journey into the integration of Eye Movement Desensitisation and
Reprocessing (EMDR) with Art Therapy, a transformative approach designed to deepen therapeutic
interventions and enhance client outcomes. This small group event accommodates a maximum of ten participants to ensure personalised attention and interactive learning.
This will be most suited to EMDR therapists, practitioners and consultants looking to bring more art to their work, EMDR trained therapists working with children and Art therapists trained or training in EMDR looking to integrate the modalities. This is not closed to art and trauma therapists who are not yet trained in EMDR, but an event later in the year (soon to be announced) might be more suitable.
Led by Lee Anna Simmons, an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and HCPC registered Art
Psychotherapist, this course synthesises theory, practice, and original material from her extensive
experience. Lee designed and ran the first EMDR & Art Therapy courses (via EMDR UK and the British Association of Art Therapists) and supervision group (via the Institute of Group Analysis).
This training is supported by Chloé Smith is an experienced Art Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist. Chloé works at a medium-secure forensic unit, where she interweaves art psychotherapy techniques alongside the more structural protocols that EMDR provides.
Throughout the 10-hour CPD-accredited programme, participants will explore
foundational concepts, including introductory relaxation exercises, resourcing techniques, and the
application of bilateral stimulation with art-making, flash / blink technique with art and also with walking.
Exploring contexts, legalities, and ethical considerations, learners will also engage in hands-on activities such as history taking and resource building with art-making and setting boundaries, while also examining the intersection of EMDR and Art Therapy in diverse populations, including children and online settings. The ten hours will not qualify you as an EMDR Therapist or Art Therapist, but will support you to use techniques from both modalities without infringing on protected titles or intellectual property.
Through dynamic sessions encompassing all eight phases of the EMDR protocol with art therapy,
participants will gain insights into interweaves, vicarious trauma, and self-care strategies.
10 hours Art Therapy / psychotherapy CPD points, 9 EMDR Association UK and Europe CPD POINTS
The total price is £347, contact hello@ EMDR.London with any questions and to secure your place.
Half and one day versions of this course were first provided to larger groups by Lee Anna Simmons, for EMDR UK (2018), the British Association of Art Therapists (2019-2023), the British Association of Dramatherapists (2022) and with the original eight phase outline initially at SA&T (2023) and EMDR UK online (2023). © Social Art Therapy Ltd 2024
